The project consists of a new three-story, 86,000 sq. ft. addition and 65,000 sq. ft. of renovations to the existing hospital. The new addition consisted of new wards for emergency and trauma, oncology/dialysis, audiology, neurology, neonatal ICU, and pediatric ICU. The renovations consisted of a new dental clinic, ultra-sound, health services/nutrition, bio-medical and staff offices.

New air handling, chillers, heat exchangers, and domestic hot water systems were provided for the addition. The heating system is connected to the existing hot water plant. New medical gas systems were provided for dental medical air, dental vacuum, and scavenging. The recently installed fire protection system was extended into the addition and renovated areas.

The hospital had to remain in operation throughout the construction, so phasing of work required careful coordination.
